Finally after 12 months in NZ (and 7 in OZ) we are officially not 'Poms' any more. Fiji is our first new country for a long while and we had both been looking forward to it. Particularly as our first week was spent lounging around at a tropical beach resort and meeting up with old friends from the UK.

...Lazing around on tropical beaches
Our first stop in Fiji was on Waya island which is at the bottom of the Yasawa group which lies in the eastern part of the Fiji. It was just how you imagine Fiji to be, Clear blue water and sky with coral reefs right up to the shore which turn into fine warm sand. Even better was that we managed to meet up with two friends from the UK who where traveling to NZ. our initial 5 days at the octopus resort turned into 7 before we managed to tear ourselves away. read diary

...Exploring the highlands
Feeling guilty of our 7 days in paradise we decided to spend a night in the mountains of Viti Levu and take a hike to the top. This proved a little too strenuous for us as the heat and the mossies actually prevented us from reaching the top of Mt Batilamu. But we still got some great views over the pacific. read diary

...Touring Viti Levu with 'FeeJee Experience'
Yep you read right, After our avoidance of anything 'Experience' (i.e. Oz & Kiwi) we finally submitted and took their 4 day tour around the entire main island of Fiji. It ended up being great fun and met loads of great people and some new friends. read diary
